PrinciplesYou, a Personality Assessment Tool

Does your organization carry out personality profiling to see how people work together?

If you have tried the Myers Briggs system and Gallup’s StrengthsFinder, you might be interested in PrinciplesYou (www.principlesyou.com)

PrinciplesYou is a new tool that comes recommended by Kevin Kelly, author, futurist and CoolTools podcaster. Kevin found PrinciplesYou to be both useful and fun, and it took about 20 minutes to complete.

It was created by investor and entrepreneur Ray Dalio and psychologists Dr. Adam Grant, Dr. Brian Little, and Dr. John Golden. (That’s an impressive cast list.)

According to the website, PrinciplesYou was developed over a two-year intensive and creative R&D process. It combines rigorous psychometrics with years of insight derived from Dalio’s experiences building the leading investment firm, Bridgewater Associates, into what makes individuals and teams most effective.

PrinciplesYou splits its reporting into:

  • Archetypes (28 in total)
  • How you prefer to think
  • How you engage with others
  • How you apply yourself, and
  • “You” in context

It is free and can be used to start a conversation with friends and colleagues.

My strongest match was that of Adventurer, and a good match to Individualist and Explorer. That sounds right for a Knowledge Maverick!

Go on. You know you want to try it too. Have fun!
